Air quality sensors should be calibrated regularly. If the measured values are too high, this causes an increased volume flow of the ventilation system, which is also reflected in an increased heating or cooling requirement and increases energy costs.
Air quality measurements in zones provide an indication of the actual air quality. LoRa sensors offer an uncomplicated way of generating this data. If they are compared with measurement data from existing systems, failure or drift events can be detected.
Faulty sensors were a significant problem in around 30% of the ventilation systems analyzed by Oxoia. This issue is therefore very important. Operating costs can be greatly increased by faulty sensors.
